Could you please tell me if the sabah state railway is now operational? We are visiting Sabah in November 2011 and as my father worked as chief engineer and acting general manager in the 1950’s -1961 and worked on the railway from 1930 as locomotive superintendant we would very much like to ride on the railway again.
Hi @J Sproson
The Sabah State Railway is still operational but there are problems on the furthest stretches after Beaufort. There will be no problem with rail service from Kota Kinabalu (Tanjong Aru) but the stretches further south may not have service.
For more information, please check out the Sabah State Railways website and the discussion forum (last updated on 12 January 2011) on Skyscrapercity.com for more recent updates.
