CVLB hotline, SMS scrapped

This information was in the newspaper today and elicited a laugh from the people at TRANSIT.

CVLB hotline, SMS scrapped

PUTRAJAYA: The Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board’s complaint system via its hotline 1800-88-9600 and SMS 39900 has been scrapped, said chairman Datuk Markiman Kobiran.

However, he said the public could still send their complaints to aduanlpkp@mecd.gov.my or http://www.mecd.gov.my or fax to 03-8880 5621.

They can also call 03-8880 5872/03-8880 5531/03-8880 5883 or 03-8880 5540.

TRANSIT says:

Most people that TRANSIT has spoken to have made it clear that there was no response to the phone calls and sms’es that they sent regarding public transport complaints. Hence, one really has to wonder what the point of this announcement is. The CVLB was not doing an effective job of monitoring public transport and they never had the enforcement powers to make a difference.

The evidence is clear. CVLB Director Markiman Kobiran, please resign. Datuk Nazri, please find someone who can take charge of the CVLB and bring a better leadership attitude to this important government agency.

If you do not manage public transport properly and allow a vacuum to be created, someone will take advantage of it. Bus and taxi operators are refusing to follow the dictates of the CVLB – it is a free-for-all situation and customers lose out.

TRANSIT long ago called on RapidKL to create their own SMS number for customer complaints – or just give out the mobile number of the director of the bus operations or the CEO himself. RapidKL had a hotline but they stopped using it 2 years ago. They do not entertain complaints or comments outside of business hours.
